Legal Avenue Video Services is a one-man show featuring William Tyler Thomas. William started videotaping depositions back when videotaping used tape. Events were delivered on VHS tape. Tape was all there was; there was no digital. But technology changed and times marched on. It marched past digital tape, past DVD recordings into the age of digital recording to an SD card for delivery of depositions through cloud-based streaming and downloading via the internet.

William’s background is the professional theatre working in the Literary department at Actors Theatre of Louisville, coming from an MFA degree in Playwriting at Indiana University. “There’s a saying about the arts: you can make a killing, but you can’t make a living.” William transitioned into a now out-dated audiovisual presentation medium called “Multi-Image,” which was a modernistic way of saying coordinated multiple-projector slide show presentations. But Multi-Image morphed into Video production. Script-writing led to all sorts of video production activity when computers became advanced and affordable to the “common man,” especially non-linear editing.

William has held certification as a Certified Legal Video Specialist from the National Court Reporting Association. He participates regularly in the Advancing Legal Video national trade association/think-tank and networks frequently with other local legal videographers who are dedicated to improving their trade.
